Delivered to Possess Your Possessions

Obadiah 1:17

But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

Mount Zion is a type of the church of God. What mount Zion stood for in the Old Testament is what the church of God stands for in the New Testament.

Hebrew 12:22-24

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

For People who will dwell on Mount Zion, that is, people who will be true members of the church of the living God. There are two stages they must pass through.

Meanwhile, we must understand that being a member of a denomination is not synonymous with being a member of the church of the living God recognized in heaven.

Those who are members of the loving God are those who are registered in heaven; those whose names are in the book of life. It is one thing for a man to have his name in the register of a church; it is another thing for that name to be in the register of God. We must all understand that God will not use our church register to admit people to His heaven; He has His own register called the book of life.

Revelation 20:15

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Those whose names are registered in the book of life have passed through these stages enumerated in Obadiah 1:17

  1. They are delivered – on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance.
  2. They are sanctified or made holy – And there shall be holiness

It is such people that can possess their possessions.

  1. There shall be deliverance.

The word used for deliverance in this scripture is the Hebrew word that means escape.

Mount Zion is for people who have escaped the captivity and corruption of sin and worldly entanglements.

  1. Every sinner is a slave.

Romans 6:16

Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

John 8:34

Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

  1. Every sinner is dead; dead to God and dead to righteousness

Colossians 2:13

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses

2. Every sinner is a stranger to the life of God

Ephesians 2:12

that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

  1. Every sinner legally is a property of Satan

1John 3:8-9

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

3. Jesus is the only remedy for sin

Romans 10:9

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Matthew 1:21

“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Romans 8:1-2

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

The mother of all deliverance is the deliverance from sin. This is because captivity of sin is the foundation of all captivity. Whoever is seeking deliverance from witches, demonic powers, evil spirits and Satan but is not ready to escape from the domineering power of sin are deceiving himself. No man can be free from Satan when he is not free from sin.

  1. There shall be holiness

Holiness of life is not negotiable for those who truly want to see God. Holiness is not the deeper Christian life; it is the normal Christian life. Holiness is the proof that you are truly delivered from sin.

Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Psalm 24:3-6

Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face.

Hebrews 14:12

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

Holiness is the proof that you are born of God. It is the manifestation of His nature in you. Those who are not born of God cannot possess His holy nature.

1 John 3:9

No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God. AMP

It is after you have satisfied these two conditions that you can now possess your possessions.

Zechariah 8:12

‘For the seed shall be prosperous, The vine shall give its fruit, The ground shall give her increase, And the heavens shall give their dew-I will cause the remnant of this people To possess all these.

Matthew 6:33

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Joel 2:26

You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame.

It is very easy for those who are in Zion to possess their possession. But others are like dogs that eat crumbs.

Mark 7:26-28

The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.

But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”

And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs.”

Do you want to continue for crumbs or you want real possession? You must be delivered. You must be sanctified and be made holy. It is after then you can possess your possession.

Today’s Wisdom Nugget

What you possess is not as important as what possess you. It is a terrible thing to be a slave of your own possessions.
