Enemies in the House

For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame–who set their mind on earthly things. Philippians 3:18-19.

It is sad to note that the greatest enemies of the church are not those from outside but people within her walls. That caused Apostle Paul to weep in his days; the true ministers of God are still weeping even today.

The gate of Hell, in her attempt to prevail against the church has moved her operational headquarters to the church; Satan is not operating from Hell against the church, he is working from right inside the church. The greatest problem of the church is within the church; those who called themselves members of the church who are in reality enemies of the cross.

Looking at our passage in the New Living Translation we have:

“For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth”.

In appearance, these people are like Christians; they go to church like Christians, shout halleluiah and dance in church, worship God as if they know Him but “they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth”. Their aim of going to church and seeking God is only because of earthly things; they do shameful things right inside the church of God and still brag about it. In the process, they confuse the heavenly minded true believers!

Beloved, do not become imitators of those who are heading for eternal destruction; do not allow the enemies in our midst to persuade you to abandon the way of the cross.

Those who have broadened the narrow way are actually out of the way; do not allow them to carry you along. Those whose gods are their bellies are both on the pulpit and on the pews in the church of today; open your eyes wide or in the local parlance, “shine your eyes”!

“Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple Rom 16:17-18.

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” 1Thes 5:23.

Do not allow anyone to confuse you in the last moment of the end-time; hold fast to the true form of faith based on what you see clearly in the word of God and not human reasoning. The end is here; be prepared!

May the Lord preserve you and me blameless till His glorious appearance and His kingdom in Jesus name.

May our short lives not become painful destroyers of our long eternity in Jesus name. May we not only dance in the church; may we reign with Him also in heaven in Jesus name. Have a blessed day.
