The Power of Relationship 2

2 Corinthians 5:20

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Colossians 1:21-23

And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled  In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away

Relationship with God is the root and hub of all relationships. Relationship has a lot to do with human behavior and the way a man behaves is the outpouring of his inner nature. A depraved nature cannot produce a perfect character which in turn cannot engender a flawless relationship. A man whose nature has been regenerated truly is most likely to behave correctly; his godly disposition will make him a man of decent character and a man of nobility.

Since every man was born as an enemy of God, each man must be reconciled to Him personally and deliberately. That reconciliation is possible only through Jesus Christ His Son.

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life (Rom 5:10).

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18-19).

Every man was born dead; he needs the life of God to become a living soul again. Every man was born a criminal with the nature of sin; he needs to be justified by the finished work of Christ. Every man was born an enemy and a stranger to the life of God; he needs to be reconciled and brought back to correct relationship with his Maker.

Being born in and into religion is never a substitute to spiritual reconciliation to God. Being exposed to religion without possessing the life of God makes people religious but destitute of the reality of God. Religion, at its best, might produce piousness. But the absence of the reality of the life of God makes religious piety insufficient in the production of the character of God in man. A man who desires true relationship must do more than being a religious devotee.

The absence of the nature of God in the people is the root of all relationship troubles in our world today. It is not possible to separate a man from who he is. Pretence and hypocrisy will last for but a moment. An adage among my people says “character is like smoke; it will always show itself”. Once the real character begins to manifest, relationship is always the first victim.

Religion can try to reform a man; only the life of God in a man brings true transformation. Really, people of religion are preaching moral reformation. There is no religion in the world that does not preach morality. But no amount of moral homily can bring the change of nature which is absolutely necessary for true transformation of the depraved nature of man. Even the man preaching the morality will usually come out of his podium of religious sermonizing to show the true nature in him.

Unfortunately, not many people in the church today understand this nature of true reconciliation with God. They are in the religion of the church but are strangers to the life of God. This is more so in the era when the church is more of a center of socialization and entertainment rather than a center of spiritual regeneration and transformation.

The weapon through a man can catch the life of God is the word of God. This word of God is written in a book form; it is called the Bible. Faith in God come by hearing this word preached from a life that is regenerated itself. True regeneration comes when correct men preach the word of God correctly with a correct life; not when men use the Bible to support their human ideas and philosophies of dead men.

The more we stay with the Bible the more we become carriers of the life of God and the more we possess the character that engenders correct relationship.

To separate Christianity from men’s character is to make a mockery of spirituality. A man’s character is a true reflection and correct representation of his spiritual state. Spirituality is not who a man is inside the church; of course, all men a angels inside church auditoriums. A man’s spirituality is his character when the church services are over; when he is back with his family, in his place of primary assignment, in the neighborhood with unbelievers and other believers. A man’s spirituality is how he represents God among the people in a day to day relationship. That is where you know a man that is truly born again; that is where true spirituality is correctly exhibited.

Relationship is behavior among others and behavior is the display of human character. The character you display in relationships is a reflection of your inners state. Who you are on the inside is what dictates how you relate with people. A man cannot divorce himself from his true inner state.

May the life of God become real to you and in you from today.

May you be a true representative of who God is in all you do and in all your day to day interactions in Jesus name.

Have a fruitful day.

Shalom!
