Today’s Meditation:

Show Me Your Credentials

1 ¶ In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.'”

2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD,

3 and said, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

4 And the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying,

5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years.

The story of Hezekiah’s sickness was given a special place in the word of God. It was recorded in three separate books of 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles and Isaiah.

God sent a message from the respected Prophet Isaiah to announce the approaching death of the king. In response, Hezekiah turned to God in serious prayers. Spiritual men are always men of prayer; they are men who know how to turn to God in critical times.

Are you aware of the potentials of prayer? Do you know that the only thing that moves God is the prayer of His people? Do you know that you have within you, the weapon of prayer, through which you can change any unpalatable of your life?

God does nothing but in response to the prayers of His people. Men of prayers are truly men of God.

There were two altars in the Old Testament tabernacle – Altar of burnt offering and altar of incense. The altar of incense represents the prayers of the saints. It is otherwise called the golden altar. The golden altar was placed directly before the Mercy Seat on the ark; only separated by the veil.

Men who pray are men with golden lives. They are men who dwell before the Mercy Seat of the Most High!

While approaching God for mercy, Hezekiah presented his credentials. He said, “LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight…” KJV.

Two things stood out in what Hezekiah said before his Maker:

  1. He had walked before God in truth and with a perfect heart
  2. He had done what was good in the sight of God

What a great testimony! Hezekiah had a walk and a work that were presentable before God.

That Hezekiah could say these things boldly before God shows he was sure of himself. It was not an empty boast. It was a life well acknowledged by God.

Beloved, how is your walk before God? Can you also face your Maker and boldly say, “I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart?”

Men whose walks are true and whose hearts are perfect can walk boldly to the throne of grace without any fear of rejection. They can freely fellowship with the Most High.

Emotions and lousiness, as well as high sounding instrumentation and beautiful voices well packaged with state of the art public address systems which characterizes our worship today are not what appeal to God. Jesus Christ said:

“23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. KJV

Walking before God in truth and with a perfect heart is what draws men to God and draws God to men. That was the message from the beginning.

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father 2Joh 1:4.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth 3Joh 1:4.

Wisdom Nugget for Today

The applause of men is never the approval of God. Men praise you to gain your favor but God approve the men He has proved!

Let us pray!

  1. Father, create in me a new heart made after you in Jesus name
  2. Every form of silent pollution in me, which repels me from God’s presence, I flush you out now by the blood of Jesus in Jesus name.
  3. Father, purge me of all falsehood, hypocrisy and religious pretence in Jesus name
  4. Holy Spirit, lead a transparent life in me from today in Jesus name
  5. Every hidden barrier between me and my God and all its causes, disappear from my life today in Jesus name
  6. O God of my salvation, reverse every negative pronouncement and verdict against my life this moment in Jesus name
  7. My Father, let your mercy bring a complete turnaround to my life today in Jesus name
