12 ¶ Then Moses said to the LORD, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’
13 “Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”
14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
15 Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.
16 “For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”
Life is a journey; it has a beginning and it definitely has an end.
Just like the Bible says, the beginning of life’s journey is not as important as the end.
You will end well in Jesus name
There are three things that determine whether or not the journey of a man’s life will end well:
- The predetermined destination
- The correct direction which in other words is call the way
- The useful companion
All these three are God-dependent
- It takes divine revelation to know the God-ordained end for each man’s journey.
Where you are going in life and what you are destined for can only be determined by your Maker.
A man who is lost in life is a man who is living in the ignorance of the God-determined destination for his life.
If you don’t know what God made you for, you have not started living; you merely exist.
A man who does not have a purpose cannot fulfill purpose and a man who does not know where he is going cannot arrive.
Joseph by revelation knew where he was going:
5 ¶ Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.
6 So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed:
7 “There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.”
8 And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.
9 Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.”
10 So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?”
Joseph had a clear destination. No wonder he was never going to give in to the distraction of Potiphar’s wife.
The clarity of your destination is what will save you from myriads of distractions in the journey of life.
A man who has no clear destination will jump at anything offered by anyone on his way.
- Israel had a clear direction when they left Egypt on their way to Canaan. That was what made them to escape the aggression of Pharaoh and the army of Egypt.
17 ¶ Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.”
It is important you get your way right. Don’t just go where everybody is going. Everyway is no way at all.
If you are in doubt, follow the WAY; He knows the way.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
- You need right companions if your journey will not end in disaster.
When certain men travelled with Jonah from Joppa to Tarshish, their journey ended as a disaster simply because they had a wrong companion.
5 Then the mariners were afraid; and every man cried out to his god, and threw the cargo that was in the ship into the sea, to lighten the load. But Jonah had gone down into the lowest parts of the ship, had lain down, and was fast asleep.
Those you travel with in life matter a lot to the success of your journey.
20 ¶ He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
Rehoboam 1King 12:8&12
Jehoshaphat 1King 22:4&32
When you travel with the right men in life, you will have the right companionship and fellowship; otherwise, you will suffer from bad influence and end in disaster.
But no matter who you are travelling with, God must go with you in your journey.
Moses said “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here” Exo 33:15.
9 Then he said, “If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we are a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your inheritance.”
The saving grace for the Apostles when the storm arose was the presence of the Master in the ship.
38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
If you lose anything in the journey of life, do not lose the presence of God.
Why The Presence of God is Inevitable
- Storms are parts of the normal journey; He will calm the storms
- Serious obstacles like the Red Sea and the wall of Jericho may stand on the way; He will clear them
- Strong enemies like Sennacherib or collaboration of enemies can face you at any time
- Difficult challenges like those faced by Joseph from the people around him can come up in the journey
- Disasters may occur and there is no one to encourage as witnessed by David and his men
When a man lacks His presence in the journey of life
- He will live in confusion and frustration
- He will be a victim of fake prophets and miracle mongers
- He is most likely going to die a failure
Those who will carry his presence
- Belong to Him
- Keep yourself holy
- Be baptized in the Holy Spirit
- Be ready to live in obedience
