16 ¶ When I heard, my body trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entered my bones; And I trembled in myself, That I might rest in the day of trouble. When he comes up to the people, He will invade them with his troops.
17 Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls-
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills. To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.
Life does not always offer what we expect. The unexpected and unexplainable incidents are parts of the complexities of life. There are deep mysteries on earth which we can never explain on this divide of eternity.
Our minds are too little to comprehend exhaustively the complex nature of human existence and the deeds of the Almighty over His creation.
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
I have seen mysteries in this short but eventful life of mine. I have seen living and strong trees falling in places where dead and weak woods stand strong. I have seen the godless living in affluence till the end of their miserable lives while saints of God are cut short at the prime of their days.
That is a part of the mysteries of life too complex for the human mind. Whatever we cannot understand about the operations of the Almighty, we must accept.
Take note of these points:
- We have faith not because we do not have unanswered Questions, but because we know that our God is unquestionable
- We have faith not because we understand all things but because we trust God even when we do not understand.
- We have faith not because we do not become weak sometimes but because we draw strength from the faithfulness of our God
- We have faith not because all our prayers are answered the way we want all the time, but because we are persuaded that our God is too good to do evil
- We have faith not because we do not have severe pains many times, but because we are sure that there is nothing we are going through that will make our Saviour to abandon us.
Beloved brethren, God cannot be summoned to the court of human opinions; his deeds cannot be subjected to debates at the village square of human reasoning. He is always right, He is always good and He always perfect.
4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.
14 I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.
His sovereignty stands for ever over the works of His hand. He is not responsible to man; He is not answerable to man.
6 Whatever the LORD pleases He does, In heaven and in earth, In the seas and in all deep places.
1 ¶ Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.
2 Why should the Gentiles say, “So where is their God?”
3 But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.
That we have faith in God does not mean that we do not have questions in our hearts begging for answers when some things happen. Yes, we have questions, many of which may not get satisfactory answers on this side of eternity. Those answers will clearly come when we also see Him as He is. By that time, we will understand all things; at that time, we will be as He is.
1 Joh 3:2
2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
But we trust Him even when our weak and limited human hearts cannot comprehend His mystery. We trust Him in difficult times because we are persuaded that He is too good to contemplate evil and He is too loving to harm.
When we come to junctions where we cannot understand and the mysteries are too deep for our hearts, the next thing is TRUST. Trust Him and keep hope alive in Him.
“If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small”
In the day of adversity, remain calm, trust Him and keep your hope alive. Do not be like the wife of Job, who was enjoying the goodness of God in good times but lost her integrity when difficult times came.
9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!”
10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Never take your eyes off Jesus. Submit to His will and keep following Him.
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
No matter what happens, hold on to your faith in Him. Do not allow the devil to capitalize on any situation to pitch you against God.
Do not see turning back from God as an option no matter what happens.
Whatever we do not understand now, we will understand it someday, when we all gather at His feet in glory.
Encourage yourself and let every challenge provoke your faith to be stronger. Be strong no matter how terrible the storm. Draw your strength from God. Do not allow the prayers and wishes of Satan over your life to be answered.
