For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1Thes 4:16-17.
One of these days, just as the word of God that cannot fail predicts, the trumpet of God will sound and the voice of the archangel will be clearly heard by the saints of God. At that moment, the saints will be taken up in their homeward journey to meet the Lord in the air. It is a breath-taking event that will shake the entire universe; this is what is called the rapture. That day, “…there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left” Luk 17:34-36.
There will be more news all over the world than all the newsmen remaining could carry. There will be more dead bodies than graves could be provided for; the world will be shaken to its foundation. The departure of the Bride of Christ is an unprecedented world event!
Friend, just imagine five minutes after this great event! The whole world will begin to count their losses. My attention is particularly on the world of church people; I just begin to imagine the plight of those who call themselves Christians but miss their heaven-bound “flight”. Some of them will see their loved ones disappear right before them while others will sit in horror before their television sets to monitor the worst news the world will ever receive.
O, the horror of that day for the fake believers! First they will begin to rehearse their lives. Why did I miss it? They will begin to ask themselves. Is it this secret affair with my boyfriend/girlfriend; that immoral thought? It is that deal in my office; that illicit money? Is it pornography and masturbation? Is it this anger or unforgiveness? There will be plenty of questions that will be begging for answers! Painful thoughts of “if I had known”… some will blame their pastors for assuring them that “it doesn’t matter”. Some will blame themselves for ignoring the little voice of the Spirit of God and that of their consciences. If only … what will I do now?
The Bible which they have ignored all their lives will now be their friend; they want to diligently study and search it now to find out what will happen next and what they are expected to do.
Beloved, imagine yourself five minutes after the rapture; where exactly do you think you will be if it happens before you finish reading this message? What if you miss the “flight”? God forbid eh?
Uhmmm; I sincerely hope you will not miss the “flight”. Get yourself together and put your life right now. It is sad for a man to start diligent following of the Lord and His word five minutes after the rapture. A battle announced ahead should not kill a lame man; that is if he is wise.
May you not become a serious Christian when it is useless doing so.
May you not be a destroyer of your own destiny in Jesus name.
Have a blessed day!
